[Things have been fairly rough for Celes, lately, but she's finally managed to get herself out of the house. It's more for necessity rather than out of desire, however; a horrible discovery early this morning showed her that it was simply impossible for her to remain idle...especially in the face of such a frustrating threat. What was this clearly catastrophe occurrence?

She discovered she's running dangerously low on eyeliner.

So that's why, if you happen to be in the make-up section of the Goldenrod Department store, you'll spot her and her Gothitelle, Victoria, standing in front of a display featuring one of the fancier brands. Celes' face isn't showing much emotion, as usual, but her movements are jerky and her posture is tight. She's frustrated; the day isn't getting any better. She's gone through three testers and none of them are quite right; the fourth one isn't showing promise, either.]

I simply cannot believe they ran out of my favourite brand...none of these ones are quite the same.

[Narrowing her eyes at the thin black line she's drawn on her hand, Celes rubs at it with her finger, pursing her lips as it smudges into her skin.]

Honestly...is this what passes for quality in this place? Pathetic...that saleswoman should be fired.

[Turning around, she lightly tosses the tester back towards the display; it lands neatly back into place with a soft clacking sound, guided into position by her Gothitelle. Looking around the make-up area, Celes rolls her eyes.]

Am I really expected to travel all the way to Celadon City to find it? What nonsense.

[...although...she has heard excellent things about the fashion and shopping in Celadon. Would it be able to compare to Tokyo, though? Hmm...

...well. It's not like she's going to go today, anyway. The thought is...tempting, however; it would likely do her good to get away from this city for a little while.

Say what you will, it's just not the same as having it in the comfort of your own home... or company commissary as the case usually is.

That's a tough one. The fishing back home was a lot easier, for one thing.

[Admittedly, Meridiana doesn't often frequent the makeup section of the department store, but she does do her fair share of roaming around as she gradually gets herself acquainted with all the commercial sights and sounds of the modern era, and it seems that today's adventure is going to take her through by chance — just in time, in fact, to hear the sound of Celes's voice.

And she's thrilled to hear it, of course, because it means Miss Ludenberg is feeling up to getting out of the house, and she only hesitates a moment (during which she wonders if it's proper to simply run up and greet her when she may still be somewhat under the weather, after which she decides to screw it and go for it anyway) before darting over toward the sound of Celes's voice.]

Oh, Miss Ludenberg! Good day, how are you?

[She's accompanied herself today by an elegant female Meowstic, who seems to be enjoying the excursion as much as Meridiana is.]

[Well, Celes isn't the only one looking at eyeliner today! Mondo doesn't look too pleased with the selection either. He's got a Pancham in his arms and the panda's got the sample eyeliner and is currently attempting to apply it. Mondo's either not paying attention or perfectly fine with this.

He glances up when he hears Celes' voice and immediately looks awkward. He's not embarrassed that he's been caught here buying eyeliner, but it's a little weird that he's looking at the same things as Celes. He debates on not saying anything and leaving as quietly as he can, but he finally decides to speak up.]

...You'd travel all the way to Celadon to get the right eyeliner?

[He'd do some pretty crazy things for his eyeliner, but going to Celadon just to buy it seems a little much.]

Does magic count?

[That's...actually something she can commiserate with. Huh.]

I agree with you, actually. I've been lucky enough to find some cafes here in Goldenrod that get close...but it's not quite the same as what I'm used to.

One must adapt, I suppose.

[...ah. It's not often that Celes allows herself to show surprise, but...there are always exceptions to the rules, aren't there? Of all the people to find in this section, she honestly never expected to see...]

Miss Everett...what a pleasant surprise.

[For a moment, she's curious as to why Merdiana seems so excited to see her of all people, but then she recalls the excuse she'd been using to excuse her absences...ah. Of course.]

I must admit, I'm feeling so much better than I was before; I simply must thank you for the kindness you showed me during my illness. I am incredibly grateful.

[And to the surprise of herself most of all...she's being completely sincere.]

But I guess if you want something specific, it's tough to get the same kinda food here I could back home.

[It takes a moment for Celes to say something, as she's busy trying to comprehend the fact that...Oowada-kun is in the make-up section. What...

There's a part of Celes that wants to leave immediately; she hasn't had much face-to-face contact with her classmates ever since she underwent her memory coma, and if she had to choose one to run into here, Oowada would not have been her first choice.

Really, she's so shocked to see him that the first thing that comes out of her mouth is...]

A lot of what the pokemon can do is similar. But it's not really the same as casting for yourself, you know? I haven't been able to do that in four years, outside maybe those times that nobody can remember all of.

I'm so very glad to hear it!

[Although...she does take a second to cast a surreptitious glance toward the general cosmetics before turning her attention back to her friend's face; matters of health in conjunction with things like concealers and powders do offer a possibly questionable combination, but she's got no reason not to take Celes at her word, and it's only a passing thought anyway.]

Well, I'm sure no thanks are necessary, but perhaps if you've the time, I might claim your company for awhile in exchange? Shops like these are so large one might almost get lost in them, and browsing around does seem like more fun in a pair, don't you think?

The badge. I mean a real one that means you're somebody with responsibility, not these little toy things that mean your pet rat beat up somebody's birds.

[For a moment, Celes is tempted to mention that she's already in a pair, in a knee-jerk attempt to dissuade Meridiana from any thoughts of accompanying her through the store. However, she's well aware that she does owe her and it would seem frightfully rude to refuse such a relaxed request.

The fact that she usually doesn't have a problem with said rudeness doesn't escape her, but she doesn't stop to dwell on it; no sense in getting into such thoughts while out and about, anyway. That can come later.]

I find myself unable to argue with you...together it is.

[The make-up section (like all department store make-up sections) is brightly lit and styled in a modern manner; she can only wonder how Meridiana, with her Victorian heritage, is taking to it. They couldn't possibly have had half of these products back in her time...or, well, not the primers and BB creams, at least.]

Do you find it overwhelming here, Miss Everett? Some of these products must seem rather foreign. If any happen to confuse you, I'm more than willing to explain their purpose.
